CopyCat Arby’s Bronco Berry Sauce

Ingredients

¾ cup water
½ cup sugar
⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons cornstarch , + 1 tablespoon of cold water
1 tablespoon corn syrup
1 tablespoon chopped red bell pepper
1 tablespoon chopped green bell pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper , for a mild kick (optional)
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring, optional for bright red color

Directions

In a small saucepan over medium heat, add ¾ cup water, ½ cup sugar , ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar , 1 tablespoon corn syrup , 1 teaspoon onion powder , 1 tablespoon chopped red bell pepper , and 1 tablespoon chopped green bell pepper. Stir well and bring to a light simmer.

In a separate bowl, mix 2 tablespoons cornstarch with a tablespoon of cold water to make a slurry. Slowly pour into the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 2-3 minutes).

Add ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (if using) and a drop of red food coloring for that signature color. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly. Serve warm or chilled.
