Ingredients

1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
½ teaspoon taco seasoning
Pinch of cayenne pepper, optional

Directions

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

Whisk in the cornstarch and cook for about 1 minute to form a smooth roux.

Slowly add the heavy whipping cream while whisking constantly until the mixture thickens slightly.

Lower the heat to low, then stir in the freshly grated cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.

Add the taco seasoning and cayenne pepper (if using), stirring well to combine.

Remove from heat and serve warm as a dip, drizzle, or taco topping.
